Withstanding the whirlwind

I don’t know much about tornadoes, but I would imagine that my life over the past few weeks comes close to what experiencing a tornado must be like. Things are flying in all directions. Everything is in utter chaos. And I’m just hanging on for dear life.
I notified my office of my departure. Have you ever watched the look on someone’s face when they open a gift they hate but try to act excited about it? That grimace, half smile thing people do, usually followed by a lot of words with exclamation points at the end of them. Things like, “Wow! Nashville! That’s interesting! It floods pretty bad there and it’s humid as hell, but good for you!”
We ended up throwing a dang good going away party. Matt and I half expected only our families to show, so when over 40 people came to whoop it up, we were pretty stoked. Between the never ending beer and BBQ, and the semi-questionable antics of Matt’s friends (mostly Brandon – who else would it be, really?), we had a good time soaking in the laughter of the friends and family we will miss so much.
No more than 12 hours after our party wrapped up, I jumped on a plane for Nashville to interview with Cracker Barrel. I half expected to question our decision to relocate there, perhaps realizing the grass wasn’t in fact greener and we were making a big mistake. Nope, still greener. Apparently I must have done something right during my six hour interview (yes, I said six hours) because I got the job! Talk about answered prayer.
If there was ever a time it was down to the wire, it’s now. The next 10 days will be spent wrapping up work, packing up our stuff, cleaning out the townhouse, finalizing our Europe plans and ultimately hauling our things to Spokane for temporary storage with our parents.
After nearly two years of anticipation, it’s hard to believe we’re down to mere days. Tasting the finish line is bittersweet, but we know once we arrive it will get a whole lot sweeter.

So proud of you Sis! Did Mike tell you he works across the street from a Cracker Barrel now? Ha Ha...I think he'll be lunching there quite a bit with coworkers...no need to even drive!
We can't wait to have you guys a days drive away, finally! If we each drive to each other once a year...we could actually see each other twice in a year! How awesome that will be after all these years apart???!!!!
Love you guys!
