Sickly, yet satisfied

Well, the stress must have finally caught up with me. I’m sick. The timing couldn’t be worse. On the other hand, is the timing ever good to be sick? I can’t remember a time when life has ever slowed down for me to honestly say, “My schedule has some room for fighting disease. Next week I’m booked, but load me up with some germs while I’ve got nothing else better to do.”
I worked from home today to avoid spreading my contagion all over the office. No sense in making my coworkers miserable. They’ll thank me in a couple weeks when I drop my big bombshell and decimate their workday schedules. I’m sure this sickness is driven by my insane ambition to do about 3 months of work in 4 weeks time to avoid said decimation. I’ve been working and stressing like a crazy woman, cramming every free minute with work, planning, school (which wrapped up last week, thank goodness), job hunting and interviewing so as to ease the transition. But clearly my health is paying the price. So, begrudgingly, I guess I’ll be lifting my foot off the gas pedal, at least a couple notches, to keep my sanity and my physical and mental state in tact.
But sore throat and runny nose aside, my crazy lady ways are paying off. I maintained my 4.0 GPA in my master’s program this semester, despite loading up on classes and attending to other insanities. And the Nashville job hunt is going better than I ever imagined. A certain restaurant chain decided they could work with my relocation schedule and are flying me down for an in-person interview in a couple weeks. And a Nashville tech company is also vying for my expertise. Not too shabby.
So, being sick sucks. But if that’s what it takes to be blessed with all of these amazing things, then I’ll take it. A few days of feeling like crap for a lifetime of memories is a pretty good trade.

Michael and I both have the crud here too...so we feel your pain! We are just trying to get over it before our trip which is only 10 days away now!
