The two month mark

On Thursday, we hit the two month mark. Two months from our last day of work. That’s right, jobless in two months. In a recession. By no coincidence, I had my first real holy sh** moment since we came up with this hair brained plan. I knew the freak outs would eventually come. If you’ve ever watched South Park, I’m a little like that hyperactive, over-caffeinated kid Tweek. It’s all good, and then I just start randomly screaming Oh God! GAH! Too much pressure! This inevitably leads to hours of meaningless Googling of Nashville and job market information that I’ve read a million times. As my Auntie Carol used to say, “I am not a well woman.”
Thankfully, God has mercy on the crazy people. On Friday morning I got a call for a job interview – a corporate communications role at Cracker Barrel, a national country-style restaurant chain headquartered in Nashville. My family will be rooting for this one – they LOVE Cracker Barrel. Later in the day, I had an informational interview with the VP of a PR firm in Nashville. She gave me a whole hour of her time (in VP time this is unheard of), and we chatted about everything from neighborhoods, to local political issues, to job opportunities. Needless to say, I gained a phenomenal ally in my job search. She will be helping me network with some very high-up people in the Nashville area, and will serve as my local ears and eyes for great opportunities.
So, extended freak out averted. God has my back. And if He’s not around next time, well I guess it’s nothing a good Vicodin-induced nap won’t fix.
