Adventures of a Wandering Thirtysomething

Ok, so I’m a little late in sharing about our holiday season this year. But hey, we were out of town for nine days…you can’t blame a girl for wanting to get caught up on her DVR!

As the title of this post implies, we made our first trek back to the Inland Northwest in 18 months for some holiday fun with family and friends. Upon stepping off the plane, it was apparent that the weather will never be a reason we would be drawn to move back to Spokane. We are the biggest cold weather wimps now thanks to 50 and 60 degree winter temps in the South.

Needless to say, aside from a fun and slightly painful ski day at 49 Degrees North, we stayed indoors as much as we could. We filled most of our days with catching up on life and politics with family, playing games (I highly recommend the board game Redneck Life – it’s a hilarious and sadly accurate portrayal of what we see in the South when we get outside the city), watching football, and seeing good friends and their new and quickly growing babies. We also squeezed in a few foodie adventures, with lunchtime visits to the new Vintage Vines wine bar in the Valley and The Flying Goat, and a delicious night out at Italia Trattoria in the Browne’s Addition neighborhood. I highly recommend all three.

Our trip was neither glamorous nor particularly exciting, but that’s the way we like it when we see our friends and families. Just a few good beers, lots of laughter and connecting with the people who’ve seen you through all the ups and downs in your life and love you anyway.
